Pak Actor Fawad Khan’s Film ‘Abir Gulaal’ Banned in India, Sources Reveal

‘S Abir Gulaal,’ their return film, could be banned from release in India after calls were made to boycott it following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.

According to sources from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India on Thursday, the film starring Vaani Kapoor will not be granted permission for release within the country.

Following this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) called for total non-cooperation from all artists, singers, and technical staff originating from Pakistan who were working in the Indian film and entertainment sector.

On Wednesday, FWICE announced a comprehensive boycott of all Pakistani artists following their observation of the latest collaborations involving these individuals.

In light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWICE is once again compelled to issue a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers and technicians participating in any Indian film or entertainment projects. This includes performances or collaborations occurring anywhere in the world,” the FWICE said.

The initial order was established in 2019 following the Pulwama terrorist incident, where 40 CRPF members lost their lives.

Fawad used his Instagram account to extend heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims who were killed in the terrorist attacks and conveyed his sorrow over their tragedy.

“We were deeply distressed upon learning about the terrible assault in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this horrific event, and we wish for courage and recovery for their loved ones during these challenging times,” as stated by Fawad.

Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, the film “Abhir Gulaal” was initially set for release on May 9, positioning Fawad for an eagerly anticipated return to the industry.
