The franchise is scheduled to release its third consecutive theatrical installment this summer. Even though they tried their best to make the sequel appealing to long-time fans, writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson mentioned that she was unable to persuade the actress.

In a recent talk with Entertainment Weekly, Robinson mentioned that she “made every effort” to include Gellar in the remake of the film, as Variety highlighted.

‘ in the movie.
“I gave it a shot, alright? I hassled her! But she is deceased,” Robinson stated. “I also suggested some outlandish concepts. I proposed, ‘What if she wasn’t really dead and was just in hiding?’” as reported by Variety.
Nevertheless, failing to persuade Gellar with explanations or script modifications led to her non-return.
“Sarah mentioned, ‘I felt completely immobilized. I was practically lifeless. Imagine finding my frozen form on ice.’ To which I responded, ‘But have you considered otherwise?’ She then stated, ‘Indeed, I am utterly still. My name is Sarah Dead Gellar,’” reported Robinson in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as cited by Variety.
According to the source, although Gellar won’t appear, original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. will come back for the horror sequel.
The ensemble will introduce a fresh batch of performers such as Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, Billy Campbell, and Gabbriette. (ANI)
